Big Wave

A reimagined language of mosaic, shaped by the waves we navigate.

BROSE WAVES OF ENERGY COLLECTION - INSPIRATION FOR BIG WAVE

ARTISTIC INSPIRATION
Big Wave draws inspiration from the ceaseless movement of the ocean — from the rhythm of water in motion, its changing reflections, and the sense of transformation it embodies. The artwork reflects on the waves we navigate through life, where every crest and fall becomes a metaphor for resilience, change, and continuity. WAVES OF ENERGY COLLECTION WAS THE catalyst FOR THIS COMMISSION, WHICH TOOK SHAPE ON A LARGE-SCALE MOSAIC
THE CONCEPT
More than a representation of the sea, Big Wave becomes an allegory of life itself. Each hand-cut fragment of glass, with its subtle variations of tone and reflection, resembles a droplet, a splash — a fleeting shimmer of experience suspended in time. Together, these countless blue tesserae converge into a flowing surface that mirrors the ocean’s pulse — luminous, fractured, and alive.
Through this language of abstraction, Big Wave transforms movement into form. It invites the viewer to see beyond the physicality of water, to reflect on the fluidity of existence — how moments, like waves, rise, break, and dissolve into one another.

THE MATERIALS
Composed of hand-cut glass and mirror mosaics on a sculpted three-dimensional surface, Big Wave reimagines the ancient craft of mosaic through a contemporary lens. The mirrored tesserae ripple with changing light, echoing the glimmer of sunlight on water, while the deep blues and silvers evoke depth, motion, and transparency.
This dialogue between material and light turns the artwork into a living surface — one that shifts with perspective and time, much like the sea itself.
Execution
Installed in the main salon of a 46-metre superyacht, Big Wave was conceived and crafted with precise technical and structural considerations. Every element was designed to harmonize with the yacht’s architecture and withstand the unique conditions of life at sea.
From concept development to final installation, the process required a balance of artistry and engineering — each piece meticulously positioned to create a seamless flow of movement and reflection across the sculptural form.

BESPOKE ART COMMISSION
Created as a one-of-a-kind commission, Big Wave exemplifies the studio’s philosophy of integrating art and environment. It stands as both homage and evolution — a dialogue between tradition and innovation, permanence and motion, the sea outside and the sea within.
As part of our ongoing commitment to bespoke art on board, Big Wave reflects the studio’s dedication to craftsmanship, technical excellence, and the creation of artworks that transcend decoration — becoming experiences that move with light, with space, and with life itself.
Big Wave Artwork
The sculpture unfolds as an abstract surge — a wave caught between movement and stillness, where glass and mirror replace pigment and brush. Each fragment glimmers like a droplet in motion, a blue reflection suspended in time. Hand-cut tesserae flow across the curved surface as if tracing the rhythm of the sea itself — fluid, luminous, and alive. Big Wave captures not a single instant, but the continuum of moments that shape our passage through life. It is both a sea made still and forever moving — an embodiment of light, resilience, and the tides we navigate within and beyond ourselves.
