Concrete Matters
Series of concrete and gold mirror explorations at the studio.

Concrete Matters
These artworks presented are part of a series of explorations of the ¨material¨ as expression. “Concrete Matters” is based on the research of intertwining concrete, laser-cut gold mirror, metallic mesh, and liquid metals. With the intention to manipulate the meaning of what these materials are intended to use for and transform them to my own will.
Because I consider painting and drawing to be an essential part of the creative process, there is always a tension between figuration and abstraction in my work and I like to investigate space, volume, and texture.
I always explore different paint mediums, materials, and ways of transforming any element (pigments, mosaics, metals, fabrics, yarns, organic fibers) changing those elements in sculptures or artwork’s and making them look like other materials and constructing new processes for the application of paints, creating a collaboration between my own desires and those of the materials.
These experiments in concrete, mirror, and metal are the starting point and inspiration for the new body of works that I am currently working on. A large-scale series of sculptures and artworks that will include architectural manufacturing techniques to execute the piece.
