Concrete Aura
These works of art presented for the Viewing Room exhibition are part of a series of explorations of the material as a use of an expression, executed in 2019.
Mixing concrete with velvet, gold mirror, and gold liquid, I took the freedom to change the meaning of what this material was intended for. I always explore different paint mediums, materials, and ways of manipulation of any element (pigments, mosaics, metals, fabrics, organic fibers) transforming those elements in sculptures or artworks making them look like other materials, and constructing new processes for the applications.
I intend to create a collaboration between my desires and those of the materials, investigating space, volume, and texture.
These experiments in concrete and fabric are the starting point and inspiration for the new body of work that I am currently working on. A large-scale series of sculptures and artworks that will include architectural manufacturing techniques to execute the piece.
